In this paper, a cable-driven parallel platform with a pneumatic muscle active support (CPPPMS) is presented for imitating human necks, where cable actuators imitate neck muscles and a pneumatic muscle actuator imitates spinal muscles, respectively. Analyzing the stiffness of the mechanism is carried out based on screw theory, and this mechanism is optimized according to the stiffness characteristics. While taking the dynamics of the pneumatic muscle active support into consideration as well as the cable dynamics and the dynamics of the Up-platform, a dynamic modeling approach to the CPPPMS is established. In order to overcome the flexibility and uncertainties amid the dynamic model, a sliding mode controller is investigated for trajectory tracking, and the stability of the control system is verified by a Lyapunov function. Moreover, a PD controller is proposed for a comparative study. The results of the simulation indicate that the sliding mode controller is more effective than the PD controller for the CPPPMS, and the CPPPMS provides feasible performances for operations under the sliding mode control

    Hexapod Coloron at the LHC

    Instead of the usual dijet decay, the coloron may mainly decay into its own "Higgs bosons", which subsequently decay into many jets. This is a general feature of the renormalizable coloron model, where the corresponding "Higgs bosons" are a color-octet Θ\Theta and a color-singlet ϕI\phi_I. In this paper, we perform a detailed collider study for the signature of ppG(Θgg)(ϕIggqqˉ)pp \rightarrow G' \rightarrow (\Theta \rightarrow gg) (\phi_I \rightarrow gg q\bar{q}) with the coloron GG' as a six-jet resonance. For a light ϕI\phi_I below around 0.5 TeV, it may be boosted and behave as a four-prong fat jet. We also develop a jet-substructure-based search strategy to cover this boosted ϕI\phi_I case. Independent of whether ϕI\phi_I is boosted or not, the 13 TeV LHC with 100 fb1^{-1} has great discovery potential for a coloron with the mass sensitivity up to 5 TeV.Comment: 18 pages, 10 figure

    A New RSSI-based Centroid Localization Algorithm by Use of Virtual Reference Tags

    A good design of node location is critical for efficient and effective wireless communications. This paper presents an improved algorithm, in order to solve the low localization accuracy caused by traditional centroid algorithm. The improved algorithm combined with VIRE system and traditional centroid algorithm. The VIRE algorithm is introduced and the signal propagation model is utilized to construct virtual reference tags in the location area. Simulation shows that this further developed algorithm has further improved the accuracy of positioning up to 35.12% compared to the traditional centroid algorithm. It is concluded that this algorithm can further improve the locating accuracy in comparison with the original centroid algorithm
